Legoland Woodland Village: Our Review!

Published on 23 June 2024 at 17:16

The new Woodland Village at Legoland Windsor is now open and as huge fans of all things LEGO we had to try it out! There are 3 options available woodland barrels, woodland lodges and premium woodland lodges.
Woodland barrels offer the full glamping experience with heating, WiFi, lighting and even charging ports! The barrels are small but super cute with toilet & shower facilities located very close by. Woodland Premium lodges are the perfect answer for larger families visiting sleeping up to 7 people! Spread over two floors it has a double bed, a children’s sleeping area which sleeps 3 and a double pull out sofa bed in the living area. We opted to stay in a standard woodland lodge so this is the one our review will be about.

Location

Unlike the resorts main & castle hotels it’s not located inside the theme park. Fitting with the more relaxed and nature theme it’s situated a short walk from the main park entrance. Close enough to still feel your at Legoland but less hustle and bustle!!

Our Stay

Check in was really simple and straight forward! We checked in online a few days before so while we were in the theme park we received a text with a code when our lodge was ready. On leaving the park we headed to the Woodland village club house and simply entered our code into the self service machine to receive our key card. However there is a little reception desk if we had come across any problems though!
On collecting our keys we headed through the village to our lodge. The lodges are in cute little cul de sac’s and each have their own little play area which we thought was a nice touch! You open the door to the lodge directly in to the main bedroom which has a double bed, flat screen tv, mini fridge and storage area. Like the hotels rooms it is themed through out complete with an owl made of Lego! Also just like the main hotel the childrens sleeping area has a safe which you have to crack the code to open! On completing the in- room treasure hunt Mase opened it to find a Lego polybag set, woodland village flag and a Legoland pop badge which of course he was thrilled with!!
The area also has a little projector which gives the illusion of sleeping under the stars which just is magical!
The bathroom again is woodland Lego themed and comprises of a toilet, sink and shower. Towels are provided so no need to bring any which is great!
The bit I think I loved the most about our lodge was our own little decked area, complete with table and chairs! We sat out there both when we came back from the club house and in the morning before breakfast. It gave us real holiday vibes and in the craziness that is a day in the theme park it was a welcome retreat!!

The Clubhouse

The first thing that hits you about the clubhouse is that it is visually stunning! Its treehouse theming is spectacular and so much attention to detail has gone into it. The Bar & entertainment area even has a camp fire inspired Lego pit! There is decking for sitting outside all around it and a fantastic play area for children. As you would expect it has a little Lego shop which also sells sweets & drinks which is nice but not much woodland themed merch which was surprising.
The entertainment comprised of singing, story time and meet & great of characters, but honestly most children were outside on the play area as it was such a warm evening!
We ate in the club house for dinner as well as breakfast and the food was great for both! The service unfortunately in the restaurant for the evening meal unfortunately wasn’t great. On speaking to other bloggers who have stayed they have reported the same. I’m sure this is because it’s new and I’m sure over time this will be worked out. Service at breakfast was better and you have the option to order cooked breakfast, help yourself to cereal & pastries ..or even both if you want!

Final Verdict!

We have stayed at both the main hotel & castle hotel so we wanted to try something different. We are really glad we did! It’s a different way to stay but it’s just as fun. The only thing we missed was the hotel pool. I think it would be perfect if it had a pool..even an outside one! The bar closes early which we found a bit strange. When we asked we were told 9pm but it was more like 8.45pm and it was still busy which was surprising! You do get Legoland golf for no extra cost with your package though so we did that as an evening activity too! We would stay in the woodland village again but unlike the hotels I don’t think it would be as fun during winter when the park is closed (we love a splash & stay). During park season though it’s a more budget friendly way to stay but I don’t think it’s less of a ‘Legoland experience’. Something to be aware of is with woodland village packages you don't get early ride time, which didn't bother us as we are happy with rope drop at 10am but a few other guests didn't realise this and were disappointed.

Merlin Annual Savings On This Visit!

We booked our stay through the Merlin Holiday Club which meant we paid £143 on one night stay with breakfast. Golf is with packages purchased with out Merlin pass but We saved £45 which is what we would of had to pay for extra days pack tickets. So for accommodation & park tickets we saved £188 by being pass holders! We made smaller savings on top of this every time we brought something but hard to remember to keep track!
