The skies above Southampton became the stage on Saturday night for an incredible illuminatating experience! We were delighted to be invited to Utilita Bowl stadium to watch Celestial drones latest show Evolution Live!
The show tells the story of Evolution through a genius light display, from the Big Bang up to present date! The technology is amazing and watching 600 drones work in harmony to create shapes in the sky, was truly a spectacle!
Each part of the story is told through music and commentary along with the lights. Creating dinosaurs, human beings and even rockets!
The main show itself was just under 30 minutes, but there was a pre show drone race we got to watch. Although it doesn’t come close to the main show the kids enjoyed it and happily chose which team to support (Red or Green)!
Our Verdict
Highlights for us included the amazing T Rex head, Turtle and the Woolley Mammoth! We really enjoyed the show, we would absolutely recommend it and I think Mason summed it up best when he said “It’s like Magic Mum”! The only thing that would make it better is if it was longer! From what I understand though drones simply don’t have the power to stay in the air that long…yet anyway!
Drones are clearly the future alternatives to fireworks which I think can only be a good thing! As much as I love fireworks we all know they aren’t environmentally friendly. The loud noise they make isn’t for everyone so can be a problem for some people and of course animals. We fully intend on visiting another drone show should it come back next year!
Evolution Live has now finished but celestial are running Christmas drone shows in Brighton, Nottingham and Bristol. They look amazing and are even narrated by Matt Lucas!
