Every December Chessington transforms itself into a winter wonderland! The perfect festive day out, which they pull off so spectacularly!! As this was our 5th Winters Tail, I guess you could say it’s become a family tradition for us!
Chessington’s Santa visit experience part of the event is always exceptional! This year they extended the magical experience with the addition of the Christmas Village, which is a little area sectioned off for people who are visiting Santa. Once inside and we’d received a little passport, we were offered silent disco head phones while we waited to see Santa! Steve loved these a bit too much and displayed his best ‘Dad Dancing’ for everyone to see (see clip on our Instagram)!
When it was our turn we were escorted by an elf through a little forest of white shimmering trees to a tucked away cabin. When our elf confirmed we go inside, we entered to find the big man himself sitting by the fire! Now, Mason is old enough to know that obviously Santa has ‘helpers’ and can spot them now a mile off! So he was floored when we walked in and saw the REAL Santa - defo not a helper!! No cheap plastic beards or cheap suits here!!
Santa was kind, gentle and Jolly! Everything you want him to be! Mason jaw was still on the floor but he managed to chat to him still - Just about! Rather than Santa giving a little gift directly - he instead stamped Masons Passport and let him know he had arranged a little gift with the elves for him. We said our goodbyes and headed our way through the shimmering forest and out to three Beautiful real reindeer!!
Our next stop, was to Enchanted Hollow. As it’s Christmas the Hollow has been taken over by the Elves!! We made our way through the little underground village and received a stamp from every elf! At the end, with all the stamps collected Mason was presented with a lovely gift of a plush toy Reindeer.
With our visit to Santa & the Christmas Village done, we headed off into the park. Now, not all the rides are open during the Winters Tail but there is so much to do and see!
There is the fabulous Christmas Panto, Zoo, Sealife and a selection of around 17 rides!
On top of this, if you’ve never stayed in one of their on site resort hotels it’s the best time to stay and it’s brilliant value at this time of year.
The winters Tail is on until the 31st December 2024
