Last night, we were invited to witness a spellbinding spectacle at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton, and I have to say, it was nothing short of magical. The team at celestial brought the classic tale of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to life in a breathtaking drone light show that had us all entranced from start to finish.
If you've seen their Evolution show like we did last November, you’ll know they’re already masters at combining art and technology in unforgettable ways. But with this new show, they’ve truly outdone themselves. The Wizard of Ozperformance is longer, more intricate, and more ambitious than anything we've seen from them before—and believe me, it absolutely pays off.
From the moment the drones took to the sky, we were transported to the land beyond the rainbow. The visual storytelling was incredibly moving, with each scene so beautifully crafted that we couldn’t help but get lost in the adventure. Dorothy’s iconic slipper click, for example, was represented as a shimmering visual in the sky—such a clever touch! For Mase, it was the Tin Man and his axe that stole the show. It’s amazing how these tiny details come to life in such a grand, magical way.
One of the most heartwarming themes that resonated throughout the show was the reminder that home is wherever we are, no matter how far we travel. It was a beautiful sentiment, beautifully delivered.
This show truly captivates audiences of all ages. From start to finish, every member of the audience was mesmerized by the breathtaking visuals unfolding in the sky. The vast stadium, usually filled with chatter and noise, was eerily silent, with everyone’s eyes locked in awe at the stunning display. Witnessing such a moment, where the entire crowd is united in their admiration, was nothing short of amazing.
If you’re looking to catch this magical experience, you’re in luck! The show’s next stops are in Nottingham, followed by Cardiff, and it wraps up in Durham. So, don’t miss your chance to experience this enchanting drone light show! Tickets start at just £18!
