We love Disneyland Paris and our previous go to hotel was Newport Bay. We actually had intended on booking Newport for this years visit but after finding a really good deal on Sequoia Lodge we decided to give it a try!
The hotel itself is lovely! It is woodland lodge themed throughout and is sat on Lake Disney so beautiful views wherever you look. It’s a short walk to the parks and an even shorter walk to Disney village! Something else we noticed is they have regular character meet & greets in the hotel. We have never actually seen a character at Newport Bay! Perhaps there are and we just kept missing them but they were definitely more present at Sequoia.
We opted for a Golden Forrest Club room which although is still a standard room you do get a club class service. On arrival we were told we had actually been upgraded to a Golden Forrest Club Suite! Which was a fabulous surprise and a first for us!
Golden Forrest Club benefits include private check in and Concierge, breakfast in the club lounge which you just turn up to when you’re ready rather than having an allotted time. Breakfast is a full American style buffet with EVERYTHING you can think off! You can also visit the lounge throughout the day for unlimited soft drinks and snacks included in the price. What we tended to do was take drinks away with us in the morning to take into the park. They also offer complementary afternoon tea in the lounge everyday between 4-6pm too. We did this on the last day before we were picked up to go to the airport and was a lovely way to end our stay.
Something that sealed the deal for us initially is that the hotel has a pool. Realistically you don’t spend a lot of time in the hotels when you go to Disney but Mason loves to swim so we always squeeze it in! It’s also a nice way to relax after a busy day in the parks.
Price wise it’s around mid range compared to the other onsite Disney Hotels. The most expensive being The Disneyland Paris hotel and the cheapest being Davey Crockett. The cheaper hotels are further away but Hotel Cheyenne & Santa Fe are still walking distance. We have never stayed in an off site hotel and although they look fabulous the sight of hoards of people trying to get the shuttle after the fireworks puts me off in all honesty. One of the main benefits of staying on site is the Magic Hour offered before park opening. This is a real life saver because queues during park hours are always huge and accessing the more popular rides before the parks open to day guests is amazing!
We also book breakfast only as this works well for us. On this visit Mason (And Dad) were desperate to eat at the Marvel Hotel which we did and was Fabulous! However the next day they just fancied McDonalds so we like the flexibility
We also love the Rainforest Cafe in Disney Village too which is very reasonable, there is something for all budgets!
We don’t tend to stop for lunch because we don’t want to miss out on ride time! We have a cooked breakfast in the morning and snack in the queues if we’re hungry. I know a lot of people make up rolls at breakfast to take in the park but we’ve never felt the need.
We loved Sequoia and will definitely go back! Ideally we will do golden Forrest club as the extras are so worth it. I always find that I pick up the best deals on Magic Breaks and we also opt to fly rather than the Eurostar as even with transfers it still works out cheaper for us and we get more park time!
