One of our annual Family traditions is to visit Rogate pumpkin patch to buy our pumpkins for Halloween! We make a day of it with some of our family who come down from Bedfordshire especially to share in some Hampshire half term fun! The patch is located between Trotton and Rogate on the A272 in the South Downs National Park. It’s about 30 minutes from us but the drive it just beautiful! It’s a family run working farm all year round that gets transformed every October into a pumpkin paradise!
When you enter the patch your met by amazing autumn and spooky themed displays. Some of the structures can only be described as works of art! They are truly amazing and you can tell so much work has gone into them. This year they had multiple play houses all painted to be like a little spooky town which was lots of fun for littles!
What we look forward to the most is the Bubble Witch! The fantastic Debbie from Enchanted bubbles is a regular attraction and our favourite! Children (and adults) can enjoy making giant bubbles which feel so magical in the surroundings! This activity is one included in admission price so everyone can experience this at no extra cost which is fab!
There are lots of other activities and attractions at an extra cost such as face painting, bumpy barrel train, inflatable slide and fairground style side stalls. It truly is an autumnal extravaganza rather than a pick your own pumpkin event!
They have some amazing food vendors who attend and there is a real varied choice so there is something for everyone. This year we opted to purchase from Hayling Hog Roast how offered a choice Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Jumbo Hot Dog or Dirty Fries. We opted for a Jumbo Hot Dog which was £4.50 and I believe the burgers were around £5.
Once we are nearly ready to head home we grab one of the many wheel barrels and head over to pick our pumpkin field! Every single one has been grown on site which I was surprised to find out is rare for these type of places. As well as the typical Halloween orange variety they also over 20 other varieties which you can buy nearer the exit. We normally stick with one from the field but I also like to buy a white one which they are normally kind enough to let me take from display (they are always the best ones on the displays)!
The site is huge but Pre Booking is essential as it’s very popular and they often sell out. Parking is not a problem as they have a free car park right next to the patch which is very convenient especially with children. Admission this year was £7 which I do feel is worth it as you can tell a lot of hard work and attention has gone into making the event what it is. Kids love it and I know we’ve made some brilliant memories for them there over the years. We will be back next year and can’t wait!
