The Kings Theatre in Portsmouth is currently playing host to the spectacular Bat Out of Hell, the musical based on the iconic rock anthems of Meat Loaf. We have heard amazing things about the show so were so excited when we were fortunate enough to be invited to last nights press night at the kings!

From the moment the curtain rises, it's clear that Bat Out of Hell is more than just a musical; it’s a rock concert wrapped in a dystopian tale of love, rebellion, and youth. Set in a post-apocalyptic city called ‘Oblivion’, the story follows the passionate and rebellious Strat (played by a charismatic Andrew Polec), who has remained 18 forever, and his forbidden romance with Raven (a captivating Christina Bennington), the daughter of a powerful ruler.

The set design was nothing short of spectacular, with soaring stage structures, neon lights, and a backdrop that evoked the feel of a futuristic world. The choreography matched the show's intensity, with energetic movement that mirrored the pulse of Meat Loaf’s music.

The cast’s powerful vocals brought new life to these beloved tracks.

Polec’s portrayal of Strat is compelling, delivering both heart and edge, while Bennington as Raven brings depth to the character’s struggle between love and family duty. The chemistry between the two leads is perfect!M

For fans of Meat Loaf, Bat Out of Hell is a must-see. For those unfamiliar with the music, it offers a fantastic introduction to some of the most iconic rock songs of all time, all delivered with an spectacular show!!
